Cyber Risk Mitigation in the Manufacturing Industry

Join us as we navigate the cyber security challenges in Operational Technology

Get the Operational Technology Security You Need. Reduce the Risk You Don't.

About the Event

Operational Technology (OT) is fundamental to the success of the manufacturing sector, with systems that are becoming increasingly automated, intricate, and interconnected.

In 2020 alone, ransomware attacks against manufacturing tripled, just one of the many methods of cyber attacks facing operational technology in the sector today. Mitigating these attacks was already an unfamiliar challenge for many organisations, but this has worsened in a time of increased disruption and uncertainty. The resiliency of manufacturing supply chains in particular will be critical for cybersecurity success at this time. With this in mind, if organisations cannot see what is happening and respond quickly, they will not be resilient.

As the manufacturing sector represents almost a third of the Irish economy, the increase in cyber attacks is extremely concerning, with the four largest industries at risk including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, computers, and food production. The importance of manufacturing in Ireland has shown no signs of slowing down, with reports indicating production has increased by 26% in the past year.

Core to the Armis Platform is the Device Knowledgebase.

It is a giant crowd-sourced, cloud-based, device behaviour knowledgebase, the largest in the world, tracking over one billion devices - and growing.

Each profile includes unique device information, such as how often each device communicates with others, over what protocols, how much data is typically transmitted, whether the device is stationary, what software runs and more. The Armis platform even records a history of everything each device does.

The protection of OT systems is a specialised task. It requires different knowledge than that of a typical IT Cybersecurity team.

In this blog, we discuss the increasing cyber threats and methods of attack that have been facing OT infrastructures in recent times.

Read now to learn how Oleson is expertly placed to deliver the specialist skillset needed to secure OT infrastructures in organisations of all sizes.

Renaissance OT Cybersecurity Posture 2020 Survey Results

In September 2020, Renaissance published a series of multiple choice, high level questions designed to probe organisation’s OT cyber security posture. The survey results demonstrate there is still work to be done across all industry sectors.
