Managing local admin rights  is the key to tackling the productivity vs. security challenge

A user requests admin rights together with a valid reason using the Admin By Request endpoint agent. Typical scenarios within education environments include adding printers/ devices, installing software or running applications that require elevation. The IT team receive the approval request instantly and are then able to decide whether it should be approved or denied. Request processing can be performed via SaaS portal, mobile app or smartwatch to ensure quick response.

Admin By Request consists of 2 parts:

1. On premise agent (Windows, Mac, or Linux). This executes elevation requests and communicates configured information to the portal (e.g. logs, requests and settings). Portal communication is recommended but not mandatory.

2. Management portal. The collection of agent settings, computer inventory and elevation workflow requests in a secure enterprise class cloud hosted environment. The portal also enables free mobile app functionality. For a test or P.O.C. all that is required is a free trial account, Admin By Request requires no additional on-premises infrastructure (servers, databases etc…).
