The AI-Powered Mobile Threat: What’s Changed and What to Do Next

What Zimperium’s 2026 Global Mobile Threat Report reveals about AI-driven phishing, spyware and the apps sharing a device with corporate data

Tuesday 17th November | 2PM

Mobile phishing on employee devices is up 380% since January 2025

Mobile has become one of the least monitored parts of the enterprise environment, at the same time as employees increasingly rely on phones for identity, authentication and access to corporate systems.

Zimperium’s 2026 Global Mobile Threat Report shows how quickly that gap is being exploited. Its zLabs research team detected more than 2.5 million phishing attacks on employee devices over the past twelve months, and phishing events on employee mobile devices have increased by 380% since January 2025. Mobile-centric phishing already succeeds at a rate 40% higher than traditional email, with attacks increasingly delivered through SMS, messaging apps, QR codes and malicious PDFs.

That raises an important question: if the phone holding your employees’ credentials and MFA is also the device being targeted, how much of that activity can your organisation actually see?

The report also shows that phishing is only one part of the risk. Mobile malware is becoming more sophisticated, and both personal and work apps are introducing new exposure. AI is accelerating attacker capability while also finding its way into the apps employees use every day, often without review.

In twelve months, AI has changed how attackers reach employees on mobile and how difficult their malware is to detect.

Join Renaissance and Zimperium as we unpack the findings of the 2026 Global Mobile Threat Report and what they mean for organisations trying to protect employees, data and access on mobile devices.
